Give your pup a refreshing, healthy treat with this homemade strawberry ice cream! Made with simple, dog-safe ingredients like fresh strawberries and Greek yogurt, this recipe is perfect for hot days or as a special snack. It’s quick to prepare, freezer-friendly, and sure to make tails wag!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (about 10 whole) strawberries – Fresh or frozen, washed and stems removed.
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt – Ensure it’s unsweetened and free of additives or xylitol.
  • ¼ cup water – Helps achieve a smooth consistency during blending.

Substitutions: Use unsweetened coconut yogurt for lactose-intolerant dogs. You can also add a teaspoon of dog-safe peanut butter (xylitol-free) for extra flavor.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Wash fresh strawberries thoroughly and remove the stems. If using frozen strawberries, measure directly without thawing.
  2. Blend Ingredients: Add strawberries, Greek yogurt, and water to a blender or food processor. Blend on high until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed. The mixture should resemble a thick smoothie.
  3. Fill Molds: Pour the blended mixture into silicone molds or an ice cube tray, filling each cavity to the top but not overflowing.
  4. Freeze: Place the molds in the freezer on a flat surface and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight until fully set.
  5. Serve & Store: Once frozen, pop the treats out of the molds and serve one to your pup! Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 8 weeks.

Notes

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve directly from the freezer as a standalone treat or crumble over your dog’s meal for added excitement.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use organic strawberries to avoid pesticide residue.
  • For smoother blending, add a little extra water if needed, but keep the mixture thick enough to hold its shape when frozen.

Storage & Reheating

  • Store treats in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 8 weeks.
  • No reheating required—serve straight from the freezer! Let sit at room temperature for 1–2 minutes if too hard.
