This Ninja Creami Cherry Gelato is a creamy, rich frozen treat that combines the sweetness of black cherries with the nutty aroma of almond extract. Inspired by Italian gelato traditions, this recipe is perfect for a refreshing dessert or a special indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

Ice Cream Base:

  • 8 fl oz heavy cream
  • 3 fl oz whole milk
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp light corn syrup
  • 5 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract

Mix-ins:

  • 1 cup black cherries (frozen, thawed, and quartered)

Optional:

  • 12 tbsp whole milk (to adjust texture if needed)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Base

  1. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, corn syrup, and sugar. Heat over medium while whisking until frothy (do not boil).
  2. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks. Slowly temper the eggs by gradually adding small amounts of the hot milk mixture while whisking continuously.
  3. Pour the tempered mixture back into the saucepan and cook on low until it thickens slightly or reaches 165°F (use an instant-read thermometer). Remove from heat and stir in almond extract.
  4. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then pour into a Ninja Creami pint container. Freeze for at least 24 hours.

Step 2: Process the Gelato

  1. After freezing, place the pint in the Ninja Creami machine and process on the “Gelato” setting.
  2. Dig a small well in the center of the gelato, add quartered cherries, and process again using the “Mix-ins” setting.

Step 3: Serve and Enjoy!

Serve immediately for soft gelato or freeze for an hour for a firmer texture.

Notes

Serving Suggestions:

Serve in bowls or cones and garnish with fresh mint leaves or chocolate shavings for an elegant touch.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Temper eggs carefully to avoid curdling (whisk constantly!).
  • Use high-quality almond extract for a richer flavor.

Storage & Reheating:

Store in an airtight container at -7°F to 9°F for up to several weeks. If too firm, let it sit at room temperature for ~10 minutes or use your Ninja Creami’s “Re-spin” function to restore creaminess.
