A rich, creamy homemade ice cream inspired by the luxurious Ferrero Rocher chocolates. This decadent dessert combines Nutella, toasted hazelnuts, and cocoa for a flavor-packed treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream (cold)
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons Nutella (or hazelnut chocolate spread)
  • ⅓ cup hazelnuts, chopped and toasted (reserve some for garnish)

Optional: Extra Nutella and Ferrero Rocher candies for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix Base Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla until smooth and fully dissolved (about 2 minutes). Adjust cocoa powder for desired chocolate intensity.
  2. Incorporate Nutella: Microwave Nutella in a heat-safe bowl for about 20 seconds until pourable. Let it cool slightly, then whisk into the milk mixture until combined.
  3. Add Heavy Cream: Pour in heavy cream and whisk until the mixture thickens slightly and no sugar granules remain. Chill the base in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Churn Ice Cream: Stir the chilled mixture gently before pouring it into your pre-frozen Cuisinart ice cream maker. Churn according to machine instructions (typically about 20 minutes). Add toasted hazelnuts during the last 5 minutes of churning or fold them in afterward.
  5. Freeze for Firm Texture: Transfer soft ice cream to a chilled container or loaf pan. Cover tightly and freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight for firmer scoops.
  6. Serve & Enjoy: Scoop into bowls or cones, drizzle with Nutella, and garnish with crushed Ferrero Rocher candies or reserved hazelnuts if desired.

Notes

  • Serving Suggestions: Pair with warm brownies or serve in waffle cones dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with nuts for an extra touch of indulgence.
  • Tips & Tricks: Chill your mixing bowl and ice cream maker’s bowl beforehand to speed up freezing and improve texture. For swirls of Nutella, drizzle it into the churned ice cream before freezing.
  • Storage & Reheating: Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two weeks. Let sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before scooping if frozen solid.
