This homemade strawberry ice cream is a creamy, refreshing treat bursting with the natural sweetness of fresh strawberries. Made with simple ingredients and churned to perfection in a Cuisinart ice cream maker, it’s the ultimate summer dessert that’s easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1¾ cups fresh strawberries, hulled (or thawed frozen strawberries)
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • 1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Mash the hulled strawberries in a medium bowl using a potato masher or pulse them in a food processor until your desired texture is achieved (chunky or smooth). Set aside to release their juices.
  2. Mix the Base: In another medium bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, and salt until the sugar dissolves completely. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Mixture: Gently fold the mashed strawberries and their juices into the milk mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or overnight for best results.
  4. Churn the Ice Cream: Turn on your Cuisinart ice cream maker and pour in the chilled mixture. Let it churn for 15-20 minutes until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Optional Freezing for Firmness: For firmer ice cream, transfer it to an airtight container and freeze for about 2 hours. Let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before scooping.
