Creamy homemade ice cream with a rich chocolate swirl, zesty orange slices, and refreshing mint. A perfect blend of elegance and indulgence for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale

Ice Cream Base:

  • 2 cups heavy cream, cold
  • 1 cup whole milk, cold
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips, melted and cooled

Garnish:

  • 1 orange, thinly sliced into wedges
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Optional: Dark chocolate squares

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ice Cream Base

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla until sugar dissolves.
  • Divide the mixture into two portions:
  1. Keep one portion as the vanilla base.
  2. Whisk cocoa powder into the second portion to create the chocolate base.

Step 2: Churn the Ice Cream

  • Churn the vanilla base in an ice cream maker until it reaches a soft-serve texture. Set aside.
  • Repeat with the chocolate base, adding melted dark chocolate in the final minutes to create streaks.

Step 3: Create the Swirl

  • In a freezer-safe container, alternate layers of vanilla and chocolate ice cream.
  • Swirl gently with a knife for a marbled effect. Cover and freeze for 4-6 hours until firm.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

  • Scoop ice cream into bowls. Garnish with orange wedges, fresh mint, and an optional dark chocolate square.

Notes

Serving Suggestions:

  • Pairs wonderfully with warm espresso or light wafer cookies.

Pro Tips:

  • Let the ice cream soften for 5 minutes before scooping for smoother servings.
  • Use quality dark chocolate and fresh cream for the best flavor.

Storage:

  • Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
  • To prevent freezer burn, press parchment paper over the surface before sealing.
